According to Dr.Finekri Abidin SpOG (K) from YPK Mandiri Hospital, it is common for mothers to experience vaginal discharge during pregnancy. You see, said Finekri during pregnancy the mother's body will produce excess fluid, including in the reproductive organs.
"If her vaginal discharge is not itchy, smelly, that is normal. Or you can say that as long as there is no infection, that's no problem," Finekri said while chatting with Mother. Various colors of leucorrhoea can indicate different health problems. This includes:
Clear or milky white
This color indicates leukorrhea, which is usually a normal and healthy vaginal discharge, especially if it has a mild odor. However, any change in quantity or consistency can suggest a problem. If a pregnant woman experiences a clear increase in vaginal discharge that leaks continuously or becomes thick and jelly, then she should immediately see a doctor.
White and thick
A thick, white or not white vaginal discharge, similar to cottage cheese, can indicate a fungal infection. Fungal infections are common, and the body is very vulnerable to them during pregnancy. Other symptoms include itching, burning, and painful urination or sexual intercourse.
Green or yellow
Green or yellow vaginal discharge is unhealthy and indicates sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as chlamydia or trichomoniasis. Other symptoms that may include redness or irritation of the genitals. STIs sometimes cause no symptoms.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), STIs can cause complications during pregnancy that can affect women and children. These complications sometimes do not appear until years after birth, but they can affect the nervous system and child development and cause infertility in women.
Gray
Gray vaginal discharge can indicate a vaginal infection called bacterial vaginosis (BV), especially if it also has a fishy odor that becomes stronger after intercourse.
BV is the result of a bacterial imbalance in the vagina. Douching and having multiple sexual partners are risk factors for BV, which is the most common vaginal infection during fertility.
Chocolate
Leucorrhoea is usually brown because old blood leaves the body, which can be an early symptom of pregnancy. Pregnant women who experience dark brown vaginal discharge should contact their doctor.

Pinkish vaginal discharge during pregnancy may be normal or may not be normal. Pinkish vaginal discharge often occurs during early pregnancy or in the last weeks when the body prepares for labor. This can also occur before a miscarriage or during an ectopic pregnancy. Other causes of mild spotting during pregnancy include sexual intercourse and vaginal infections.
Red
Leucorrhoea can mean bleeding and during pregnancy requires immediate attention from a doctor. Especially if the bleeding is heavy, contains clots, or occurs together with cramps and abdominal pain.
These symptoms indicate a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy. About 10 to 15 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriage. Other causes of red discharge may be less serious, especially during the first trimester, when it can occur due to implantation or infection.
Studies show that between 7 and 24 percent of women experience bleeding during early pregnancy. Bleeding in the second trimester of pregnancy or tuga can indicate potential serious problems or premature labor, which will require immediate medical attention. As quoted by Medical News Today.
